Meet the Katens
Dr. Katrina Katen, Psy.D.
Owner and Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Katen is a licensed clinical psychologist with her doctorate in clinical psychology and master’s with specialization in marriage and family therapy. She founded Individual Matters in 2010.
Hi, I am Dr. Katen! I’m a psychologist, counselor, author, and educator.

I believe your life is meant to be lived, not just survived. I believe we are here to thrive through laughter, tears, relationships, struggles, and triumphs. Life is the whole thing, all of it together, not just the polished moments.

Whether you are seeking an evaluation for your child, counseling for yourself, or skills to help you thrive in your profession, our work is collaborative. This is your journey. I will meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you figure out what is getting in the way and what truly matters to you. We will talk honestly. We will use practical tools you can actually apply in your daily life. We will create space for growth that feels realistic and human.

Beyond clinical work, I am also an author of self-help and fiction, an educator, and a consultant. I enjoy translating complex ideas about psychology, growth, and self-discovery into language and strategies that makes sense and are usable in real life.

You do not have to navigate your journey alone. Your story matters. Your path matters. And together, we can move forward in a way that feels aligned, supported, and true to you!
